Body of Missing Man Found in South Fork River in Gaston County Posted: 25 May 2012 07:15 AM PDT Lincoln County Sheriff's Office News Release May 25, 2012
Lincolnton, NC – The body of a missing Lincoln County man was found Thursday afternoon by searchers in the South Fork River near High Shoals.
Lincoln County Sheriff David Carpenter said the body has been identified as Keith Roland Boyte, 37, of 1069 Clemmay Trail, Lincolnton. Searchers from Gaston and Lincoln Counties began the search near the bridge on four- lane Highway 321 where Mr. Boyte's work truck and trailer were found parked beside the highway. The body was found downsteam near the site of an old mill in High Shoals.
Sheriff Carpenter said the family has been notified and the body has sent to Charlotte for a post mortem autopsy. Investigation into the exact cause of death is continuing.
Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies took a missing persons report Wednesday night from a friend who said he had not heard from Mr. Boyte for two days. He said continually tried to contact his cell phone over a 48 hour period but was unsuccessful. The last time he was scene was Monday around 6:00 p.m. when a neighbor said Mr. Boyte told him he was going to Shelby to work on a rental property. |
