| If you tried to log in to TwitPic or Twitter using a Google Chrome browser on Sunday, you may have encountered a problem. Google has been displaying malware warnings whenever visitors try to access either TwitPic or a site that relies on the service, although direct links and embedded images stil work. TwitPic says it is currently trying to correct the problem.

| Foursquare sent out an email on Saturday detailing updates to its privacy policy and planned service changes that will take place in January. Currently, usernames are displayed with full first names and an initial for surnames (e.g., Kenneth R.) on the location-based social network. Starting next year, however, profiles will display both full first and last names.

| Facebook has made strides in 2012. A billion users and a smart new Timeline UI punctuate a banner year for the world's most important social network.
