| Zynga on Wednesday began testing the waters for Internet gambling with the UK-only introduction of ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino. The downloadable and web-based versions of Zynga’s real money games for play in the UK is the prelude to the introduction of Facebook- and mobile-based versions of the games, Barry Cottle, Zynga's chief revenue officer and EVP, wrote on the company's blog on Tuesday.

| Though the print and radio industries have both suffered from the rising popularity of online advertising, one industry remains immune: television. U.S. advertisers are expected to increase their spending on TV this year by nearly $2 billion to $66.35 billion, according to forecasts from eMarketer. By 2017, that number is expected to reach $75 billion, an increase of 14% over five years.

| In a bit of a post-merger shakeup, Tom Thai, the former VP of marketing at Bluefin Labs, has replaced Shane Steele, Twitter's director of sales marketing. Steele's last day at Twitter was about six weeks ago, which she announced with the following tweet: After two amazing years at Twitter, I'm leaving to begin a new chapter.

| Rovio, the Finnish company behind the popular Angry Birds franchise, had a good year. Thanks to healthy growth in game and consumer product sales, revenue more than doubled between 2011 and 2012, clocking in at €152.2 million (about $195.2 million) from €75.6 million, according to an earnings statement released Wednesday. Net profit after tax grew more narrowly however, up 36% to €55.5 million ($71.2 million) from €35.4 million in 2011.

| When the weather becomes a hot topic on Twitter, the Weather Channel will try to seize the moment with some custom content thanks to a new deal with Twitter. The agreement, which is similar to Twitter's deal last year with ESPN, will include video clips of local forecasts, user-generated content and coverage related to major weather events, according to AllThingsD.
