| After months of rumors, YouTube finally introduced a pilot program for paid channels on Thursday. YouTube will now let a few dozen of popular channels charge viewers a subscription fee of 99 cents or more per month, the company announced in a blog post. Each of these channels will offer two weeks of free viewing before charges kick in and some will provide discounts for those who sign up for an annual subscription.

| Yahoo announced the acquisitions of both MileWise and GoPollGo Thursday. Both startups will be shutting down their services and joining Yahoo's mobile teams — Five people from MileWise will be reporting to Robby Stein's mobile office in New York, while GoPollGo's three founders will join Yahoo's mobile group in Sunnyvale, Calif., a spokesperson for Yahoo said.

| Microsoft is considering a purchase of Nook Media for $1 billion giving the company access to its e-readers, tablets and e-books, according to a report. Citing internal documents, TechCrunch reports that Microsoft's plan would build on its $300 million investment in Nook in 2012 and take current co-owner Barnes & Noble out of the equation.
