| No flash? No problem. A new imaging sensor could soon make it possible for photographers to take clear, sharp photos, even in dim lighting. Created by a team of researchers at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, the new sensor is highly sensitive to both visible and infrared light, which means it could be used in everything from the family Nikon to surveillance and satellite cameras.

| Hulu has rolled out a new interface for Hulu Plus on Roku, select Samsung TV and Blu-ray players and the Nintendo Wii. The update mirrors changes made to the PlayStation 3 Hulu Plus interface last fall and this spring's Apple TV redesign. The update is more living room-centric, with a focus on larger artwork, an easier way to scroll through recommendations and improved search.

| Former Microsoft Windows Chief Steven Sinofsky talked about some of the thinking behind the creation of Windows 8 during a public interview Thursday. During AllThingsD's D11 conference, Sinofsky said it was impossible to predict what the public's reaction would be to Windows 8, but said he knew some early adopters probably wouldn't like it.

| Apple CEO Tim Cook made some news this week during the Wall Street Journal's D: All Things Digital conference when he announced that the company has "several more game changers" up its sleeve. Cook also revealed that Apple has purchased nine companies since October, and sold more than 13 million Apple TVs.

| Today's Google Doodle is a cute animated tribute to Julius Richard Petri, the bacteriologist credited with inventing the Petri dish. Born in 1852 in Barmen, Germany, Petri received his medical degree from Berlin's Kaiser-Wilhelm Academy for Military Physicians in 1876. For the following two years, he worked in the Imperial Health Office in Berlin, where he became an assistant to Robert Koch.
