We meet again for the most entertaining post of the week: #FunFriday!
Whether you're new to this series or you've been with us throughout our journey, we're glad you're here.
This week has been extra special as we've celebrated our community manager’s Feedblitz’versary!! Heather Solos has been with us for a year despite incredible (and I'm not using that word lightly) burdens and changes these last twelve months.
Heather’s an amazing asset to us, she’s built a great team and has helped us achieve our 50 percent growth rate this year! (Woo-hoo!) So a huge thank you and congrats to Heather!
Ok, now back to business. We know you've been busy this week, so you may have missed some big (fun) news. But not to worry…it's time to take a break and enjoy.
For the Sriracha Lovers
There will be no shortage of Sriracha! A judge ruled in favor of Huy Fong Foods, the maker of Sriracha. According to the Los Angeles Times, "After residents complained of burning eyes and throats and in some cases headaches, the city asked a judge Monday to halt operations at the plant. The plant, which processes raw materials for the sauce for about three months a year, is currently in the middle of a chile harvesting cycle." Upon hearing the news, digital consultant Sarah Evans said,"Today a judge ruled in favor of the factory, thus eliminating a potential #Srirachapocalypse." Phew! Glad we avoided that one!
Snapchat Reportedly Turned Down Billions from Facebook
Snapchat turned down $3 Billion offer from Facebook. Wait. What?! That's right. According to Mashable, Facebook made an offer and Snapchat is waiting until 2014 hoping for a better valuation for the company. And waiting. And still waiting.
Squats for Free Train Rides?
Are you willing to do squats to pay for your subway ride? Apparently if you live in Moscow, "your morning commute can now include a brief fitness session," according to Mashable contributor Jessica Catcher. The real reason behind this? The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics of course. You have to do 30 squats for a train ticket. I think this is awesome. Could you do it?
Philippines Typhoon Emergency Appeal
And on a more serious note, Super Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines recently, and has tragically left millions of people homeless. UNHCR is asking for support to provide aid to this region. Please do what you can to help this devastated region.
We're off to finish the day strong now that you have some reading to keep you entertained for a while. Hope you enjoyed this #FunFriday reprieve and have a wonderful weekend.
