Welcome to #FunFriday – the Christmas Cookie Edition!
Yes, we're back with our regular end-of-the-week post intended to be a short reprieve as we all count down the last hours until the weekend.
December is upon us and before you know it, we'll be ringing in the New Year. And you know what that means…cooking, eating, and parties!
In fact, office parties have already started, and soon we’ll be attending family gatherings and neighborhood holiday open-houses.
If you’re planning on bringing a little gift to say thanks for the festivities, there’s nothing better than homemade {insert your holiday here} cookies!
Below are some of our favorites:
Sugar Cookies
No holiday cookie plate is complete without traditional sugar cookies. Better Homes and Gardens has a simple recipe for the cookie, as well as a bunch of variations such as chocolate, citrus, nut, peppermint, and spice. Plus something called Royal Icing. Sign me up!
Salty Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Epicurious gave the traditional chocolate chip cookie recipe a bit of a twist. According to the recipe, "Finishing your cookies with a delicate, flaky salt like Maldon brings out the chocolate flavor and the sweetness, creating the ultimate sweet and salty snack." Sweet and salty might be the best flavor combo ever.
Gingerbread Cookies
Looking for incredible gingerbread cookie recipes? Look no further! This classic cookie is a mainstay of traditional Christmas baking. But, and herein lies the dilemma – do you like yours chewy or crunchy? We found recipes for both: Allrecipes.com has the chewy version, while Food and Wine delivers the crunch.
Peanut Butter Blossoms
These are really easy to make and always a hit. The most time consuming part? Taking the Hershey Kisses from their wrapper! One for you…two for me! Hershey's has a great recipe for these delicious cookies.
Chocolate Peppermint Thumbprints
A bit of a twist on the classic thumbprint, these cookies should be on your list of things to bake this holiday season. Delish has a recipe that looks mighty tasty.
Looks like you have a lot of baking to do. Good luck, and enjoy the weekend!
