It’s always amazing how quickly Christmas flies by, isn’t it? All the preparation and it’s gone in a flash and, of course, 2014 is just a few days away.
The holiday shopping season is a time for brands and their advertising agencies to really dig deep into their creative reserves and swing for the fences with some top-rate visual storytelling.
We pulled together some of our favorites from this past season (in no particular order). If you missed any of these, here’s your chance to experience them for the very first time.
Without further ado, here they are — our favorite holiday ads of the 2013 season.
Apple – Misunderstood
This ad took the world by storm, inspiring countless blog posts lauding the creativity and quite a few that saw a more troubling message. It’s a departure from the pop-heavy ads Apple usually produces.
Best Buy – ‘Twas
Will Arnett. Need I say more? His sardonic humor and gravelly voice work perfectly. Throw in a bit of physical comedy and zinger one-liners and you have a winner! There’s some great cameos, too.
Target – My Kind of Holiday
What do you get when you combine an infectiously catchy tune with hashtags and mentions of Instagram? Target’s entry this holiday season focuses on family, fun, and lots of good food. Just what the holidays are all about, right?
USPS – Whatever It Takes
The United States Postal Service has come under some hard times lately, but the holiday shopping season always brings a boon with consumers taking to the web to do their ordering. All those packages need to be shipped! A spin-off of the “Twelve Days of Christmas”, this ad is light-hearted and quirky.
Walmart – Christmas Magic
Sharing the magic of Christmas is a good message, especially when it helps promote some of Walmart’s charitable partnerships. This is a touching ad that is sure to tug at all the right heartstrings.
What do you think? Is there an ad that you’ve seen – and loved – this holiday season? Let us know!
