Drum roll, please.
It's time for another edition of Feedblitz: Rewind the Week, our weekly roundup of the top news from the worlds of digital marketing, social media, and all things tech.
You know, this job never gets any easier week to week. There's so much news breaking in the space daily, I always have my job cut out for me.
That said, if we missed a post or story that you think shouldn't be missed, let us know in the comments below.
LinkedIn Rolls Out a Publishing Platform
LinkedIn made waves this week when it announced a planned rollout of a native publishing platform to all its users over the coming months. If you spend any time on LinkedIn, you've probably noticed the Influencer posts at the top of the feed. Until now, access to the blogging platform has been reserved to a fair small, elite group of "influencers".
It's an interesting move for the social network. Members will be able to publish entire blog posts on LinkedIn, and target those posts to everyone in their respective professional networks – but I don't think it will be replacing blogging on a site you own anytime soon.
Writing Challenges: Overcoming Resistance
As Olivier Blanchard prepares to release the first volume in The Nemesis Engine series, he explores the trappings of procrastination, self-doubt, and cultivating a discipline of writing in this brilliant post.
If you've been trying to launch that big passion project, but keep bumping against obstacles and roadblocks of your own doing, perhaps Olivier's honest and forthright approach will give you the momentum you need to push onward.
Defining What You Are And What You Are Not
Depending on who you ask, competitive advantage can mean a lot of things, but every business has one. In a provocative post aimed squarely at the often crowded world of communications agencies and consultants, Jason Falls challenges marketers to take an honest look at what they do well — and what is better left in the hands of someone else.
The keys to business growth, as Jason so clearly articulates, are taking an assessment of one's core competencies and doing a bangup job within those areas of expertise.
Four Ways to Capture B2B Leads from Facebook
This last one is a bit more tactical than the rest of this week's features. The 800-kb gorilla in the room for many B2B marketers using Facebook is the fact that the social network seems more aligned to B2C brands. Adam Torkildson shows B2B marketers some excellent (and effective!) ways to capture those ever-important leads on Facebook, including paid social ads, super targeted prizes for decision makers, and using an established network of connections for peer-to-peer sharing.
