Governor McCrory Honors Sheriff BJ Barnes and Dena Barnes with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Posted: 01 Apr 2015 08:53 AM PDT Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory surprised Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes and his wife Dena Barnes with Order of the Long Leaf Pine awards today at a ceremony in Greensboro.
"BJ's dedication to the State of North Carolina and the people of Guilford County should not go unnoticed," said Governor McCrory. "His service has been truly incredible and I am lucky to call him not only a colleague, but a friend as well."

Governor Signs Bill to Stabilize Transportation Funding Posted: 01 Apr 2015 07:33 AM PDT Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory signed legislation that will immediately reduce North Carolina's gas tax as part of a finance plan that will stabilize revenue needed for the state's transportation projects.
The bill reduces the state tax motorists pay today on a gallon of gasoline from 37.5 cents to 36 cents effective April 1, 2015. The gas tax rate will be further reduced to 35 cents on January 1, 2016 and drop to 34 cents on July 1, 2016.

McCrory Administration Holds Graduation Ceremony for HUB’s Gold STAR Contractors College Posted: 01 Apr 2015 07:32 AM PDT Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory attended a graduation ceremony at the Executive Mansion for 11 participants of the North Carolina Contractors College. The college is conducted by the North Carolina Office of Small and Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB). This year's graduates were part of the Gold STAR program, which focuses on business development strategies that focus on preparing estimates and bids for specific state government construction projects.
