| Posterous, the blogging platform acquired by Twitter early last year, announced Friday that it will be shutting down its services in April. "On April 30th, we will turn off posterous.com and our mobile apps in order to focus 100% of our efforts on Twitter," Posterous founder and CEO Sachin Agarwal wrote in a blog post.

| Just last month, Dutch architects unveiled plans to build the world’s first 3D-printed house out of sand, with a construction time of 18 months. Now British architecture collective Softkill Design has announced that it too is planning to build a 3D-printed house, but it can be printed in three weeks and built in one day. Rather than sand, the structure, known as the ProtoHouse, will be built out of highly fibrous laser-sinted bioplastic.

| A prosthetic device that can restore some sight to the blind has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The company that makes the device, Second Sight, based in Sylmar, Calif., can now market the retinal prosthetic to patients with advanced retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative eye disease that can cause blindness. This is the first approved treatment for the disease in the United States.

| To expand its fare payment technology, New Jersey Transit will now give you paper dollar bills in some of those vending machines that sell paper tickets. Yes, they're finally moving away from using $1 coins (which no one wants as a form of change anyway). But here's a thought: Why not bypass the change and the paper tickets altogether and move to e-tickets? I take NJ Transit trains to commute into New York City every day.
