| Yahoo unveiled two new advertising formats Monday as the company continues to battle quarterly declines in ad revenue. One, called "Stream Ads," are ad units that appear in-line with — and in the same format as — stories in Yahoo's news feed. The ads run across desktop, tablet and mobile.

| IAC Chairman Barry Diller says that merging Newsweek with The Daily Beast in November 2010 was "a mistake," and that he does not have great expectations for its future. In an interview with Bloomberg (above), Diller said that printing a single magazine — particularly a newsweekly — is a "fool's errand" in the current news environment.

| Shazam, the company best known for its eponymous music discovery app, has hired a new CEO and plans to go public in the near future. Rich Riley, the former EVP Americas for Yahoo, has joined Shazam as CEO. Shazam's previous CEO, Andrew Fisher, will now become executive chairman, a newly created position. Fisher had led Shazam since 2005.
