| Yahoo unveiled two new advertising formats Monday as the company continues to battle quarterly declines in ad revenue. One, called "Stream Ads," are ad units that appear in-line with — and in the same format as — stories in Yahoo's news feed. The ads run across desktop, tablet and mobile.

| IAC Chairman Barry Diller says that merging Newsweek with The Daily Beast in November 2010 was "a mistake," and that he does not have great expectations for its future. In an interview with Bloomberg (above), Diller said that printing a single magazine — particularly a newsweekly — is a "fool's errand" in the current news environment.

| HuffPost Live, the 8-month-old, online-native video news network from AOL's Huffington Post Media Group, will begin syndicating to cable on May 13. The live network has struck a deal with AXS TV to bring half of HuffPost Live's 12 hours of live weekday programming to the channel, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.

Would it shock you to know that some studies suggest the average adult attention span comes in at less than that — just 2.8 seconds? Other research is more generous, pegging the average attention span in 2012 as eight seconds, although this is down four seconds from the 2000 average, which suggests that we're not getting any more patient as the years go on.
