Report: Yahoo Bidding for Hulu

The roster of companies interested in acquiring a stake in Hulu is growing. In addition to The Chernin Group (in partnership with Providence Equity), Guggenheim Digital, DirecTV and Time Warner Cable — whose bids were reported on Thursday night and Friday morning — Yahoo, private equity firm KKR and talent agency William Morris Endeavor (in partnership with Silver Lake) have also placed bids, according to AllThingsD and Bloomberg.

On the heels of Yahoo's $1.1 billion acquisition of Tumblr, Hulu is suddenly snapping up bids left and right. According to The Los Angeles Times and Reuters, both the Chernin Group, in partnership with Providence Equity, as well as Guggenheim Digital Media, have placed bids for the streaming video service. The Chernin Group is run by former News Corp. executive Peter Chernin.

Volkswagen App Stops Video When You Turn Away

In a neat gimmick to illustrate its stop-start technology, which turns the car off when stopped, Volkswagen launched a Chrome plugin that pauses a video when you look away from the screen. The app uses your computer's camera and some facial recognition technology to achieve the feat. In a quick test, it worked well enough, but seemed to require exaggerated movement properly — like turning your head all the way to the side.

If you haven't stopped listening to Daft Punk's new album Random Access Memories since its release, consider switching it up a bit. Musician Joe Jeremiah released this amazing 8-bit arrangement, featuring every song from the highly anticipated new album. The video is part of his "A-bit of..." series. The keyboardist previously performed synth and chiptune tributes to Nyan Cat and Adventure Time in the series.
