Crowdtilt Opens API So Anyone Can Create a Crowdfunded Project | | Crowdtilt, a self-styled "Kickstarter for groups of friends," has released its API to let anyone create their own crowdfunding site. In an example cited by the company, a vacation home rental site could for example let five friends pay their share for a vacation home rental and then only charge the credit cards if all five have paid. The API is also accessible for crowdfunding models under the JOBS Act.

| Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer released a report Tuesday that addresses New York City's "thriving entrepreneurial economy" and how he believes that economy can be pipelined to the middle class. This year, New York City replaced Boston as the number two hub for tech expansion and growth in the country -- yet Stringer says that success has yet to encourage growth in the job sector for the middle class.

| Groupon CEO Andrew Mason doesn’t want to talk about his company potentially being acquired, or whether he will continue to be in charge of it. During an interview Tuesday at the Mobile-Loco conference in San Francisco, Mason repeatedly refused to answer questions about a recent rumor that Groupon might be acquired by Google.
