Today, most online display ads are sold by the number of impressions or by click-throughs, metrics that favor sites that generate lots of pageviews, perhaps through short articles, sensationalized headlines or slideshows. What those metrics don't favor is long or engaging journalism — that is, truly interesting content that people spend a lot of time with.

New Yorker Launches 'Strongbox' for Anonymous Transmission of Files

The New Yorker on Wednesday launched "Strongbox," an online system for sources to send files and messages to the magazine's journalists with "a reasonable amount of anonymity," as Senior Editor Amy Davidson put it. A source can use Strongbox to send information anonymously in the following way: First, they access the Tor network, which anonymizes users via a series of relays encrypting traffic at each step.

TNT and TBS to Live Stream Their Content 24/7

TNT and TBS announced Wednesday that they will be the first national entertainment networks to live stream their content 24/7. The plan, announced during the Upfronts in New York, will begin this summer. Viewers will be able to watch the two networks live.
