Embraer has taken its analog ads to a whole new level with its campaign for the new Lineage 1000, by designing a campaign catalog that flies — or, rather, floats. The catalog, whose cover has a 3D design of the Lineage 1000, floats using magnets in its base that help keep it suspended. Readers can browse the catalog without having to set it down.

On Thursday, Instagram added video to its iPhone and Android apps for the first time. While many users flooded the service with hastily shot clips, typically from their offices, some brands uploaded videos that show how beautiful and fun the feature can be. Instagram's video feature functions much like Twitter's video app, Vine.

Kevin Systrom had barely finished showing off Instagram's new video features when several brands started posting their own clips. Lululemon was one of the first out of the gate with a video showing a woman doing yoga in different locations. Burberry and Charity: water posted videos as well. Systrom, the co-founder of Instagram, pitched the option to record videos as a way for casual users to capture "moments" of their lives in a new way.

Yahoo's Acquisition of Tumblr Officially Closes

Yahoo agreed to acquire Tumblr last month for $1.1 billion, nearly all of it in cash. On Thursday, Mayer announced — on Tumblr — that the deal has passed regulatory approval procedures and is now complete. To commemorate the close, Yahoo has given its corporate Tumblr a bit of a facelift, and added separate Tumblrs for several of its divisions, including Flickr and Search, to share product updates with Tumblr's community.

Amazon's Fan Fiction Division Inks Deal With Valiant Comics

Last month, Amazon unveiled its plans to turn fan fiction into a real business, signing on Alloy Entertainment (a division of Warner Bros.) to allow independent writers to sell fiction based on shows like Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diairies on Amazon's site.

'New York Times' Begins Offering 3 Free Articles Daily on Mobile Apps

The New York Times is poking a few holes through its metered paywall: On Thursday, the paper announced that non-subscribers can read up to three articles per day on its mobile apps, beginning June 27. That's more generous than the Times' desktop paywall, which limits non-subscribers to 10 free articles per month. It may not be more generous than its previous offering to mobile readers, however.
