Apple Gives Out Gift Cards to Students for Mac, iPhone and iPad Purchases | | Apple has started a new round of its annual "Back to School" promotion, offering $100 iTunes gift cards to students who buy a Mac, and $50 gift cards for those who buy an iPad or iPhone. Apple also points out that students and teachers can save up to $200 on Mac purchases. The program applies to college students, parents buying for a college student, teachers, homeschool teachers, administrators and staff of all grade levels.

| Zynga has named former Microsoft Entertainment head Don Mattrick as its new CEO, replacing co-founder Mark Pincus, the company announced on Monday. Mattrick, the former president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, will take over on July 8. Pincus will remain chairman of the board and chief product officer.

| Mozilla announced the first two smartphones based on its operating system, Firefox OS on Monday: the ZTE Open and Alcatel One Touch Fire. The two devices will soon be available through Telefonica and Deutsche Telekom. Telefonica announced that the ZTE Open will be offered in Spain starting on July 2 for 69 euros ($90).

| Nokia announced Monday it would buy out Siemens' share of Nokia Siemens Networks for $2.2 billion, a move that jacked Nokia's stock price up more than 7%. The buyout of Siemens' 50% stake in NSN dissolves the joint venture, which was launched in 2007 as a global provider of wireless infrastructure equipment.
