Sheriff’s Detectives Asking for Public’s Help in Rock Throwing Incident that Damaged a Vehicle and Injured Passenger on Highway 321

Lincolnton, NC – Lincoln County Sheriff's detectives are investigating an incident where a large rock was thrown from the side of Highway 321, crashed through the windshield of a 1996 GMC pickup truck and injured the passenger.

Charles Edward Self of Old Stage Hwy, Reigelwood, NC, the driver, told Detective Lt. Tim Johnson that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 321 between Mile Marker 20 and Mile Marker 24 around 7:00 p.m.when the rock came crashing through the windshield striking the passenger in the stomach.  The rock was about 5 and 5 inches and weighed about one pound.

Pearlie Nailer, 56, of Rock Creek Road, NE in Leland, NC. , the victim, told officers he and the driver did not see anyone standing along the highway and there was no other traffic near where the incident occurred.   Mr. Nailer was transported to CMC-Lincoln where he was treated and released.

Lt. Johnson said, "Someone's life could have easily been taken in an incident like the one last night."  He asks that anyone with information about the incident contact the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at 704-732-9050 or call Crime Stopper's at 704-736-8909.

Stanley Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Teenager

Lincolnton, NC – Lincoln County Sheriff's Detective Seth Bailey arrested a Glover Lane man Wednesday on charges that he sexually assaulted a 15 year old female last month.

The incident occurred on April 13, 2012 after the suspect invited the teen and another girl to his home and providing them with alcohol.  The teen then left with the man to go to the store but he stopped the vehicle near Hill's Chapel Methodist Church where the alleged assault occurred.  The suspect did know the victim.

Wesley Joe Fore, 42, of 6782 Glover Lane, Stanley was charged with one felony count of Statutory Rape/Sex Offense of a 13, 14 or 15 year old by a defendant 6 years older.  He was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
