'Star Trek Into Darkness' Mobile App Will Blast off During Super Bowl

Movie studio Paramount has teamed up with Qualcomm to create a new app for the upcoming film Star Trek Into Darkness. Announced at CES 2013, the app uses context-aware technologies to bring specific information to users at specific times. When the app launches at the end of January, fans will be able to get special Star Trek Into Darkness content, such as videos, photos and wallpaper delivered directly to the mobile device.

Aereo is Expanding to 22 New Cities This Spring

Cord-cutting startup Aereo announced Tuesday that it will be officially expanding into 22 additional cities this spring. Until now, only New York City residents have had access to Aereo. That will change in a few months, as the company plans expansion to cities such as Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, Boston, Houston and Philadelphia.

Movie Studios Announce 'UltraViolet' Partnership With Device Manufacturers

LAS VEGAS — At a keynote speech at CES 2013 on Tuesday, CEA president and CEO Gary Shapiro introduced UltraViolet, an effort by the major motion picture studios to cooperate with the consumer electronics industry to provide content to consumers. Consumer electronics companies announced for the partnership are LG, Vizio, Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, Philips and Sony.
