50 Million LivingSocial Accounts Compromised After Hack

Add this to LivingSocial's growing list of woes: The money-losing daily deals site admitted Friday that it has been the victim of a cyber attack. A LivingSocial spokesperson said the company has begun reaching out to the more than 50 million customers whose data may have been compromised. Leaked data includes names, e-mail addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords.

Wavii Confirms Google Acquisition

One month after Yahoo made headlines by announcing its acquisition of Summly, a startup that uses algorithms and natural-language processing to serve short summaries of articles, Google has snatched up Wavii, a Seattle-based startup that also gathers and processes online data into summarized bits.
