Android's Jelly Bean Usage Eclipses Gingerbread for the First Time

Jelly Bean, the latest version of Android, has surpassed Gingerbread as the dominant operating system for the first time. According to the Android Developers' Dashboards section, 37.9% of users are running Android version 4.1 and 4.2 on their smartphones, while Gingerbread (2.3) slips into second place with 34.1%. Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) takes third place with 23.3%.

Developed by Sagawa Electronics, the Powered Jacket MK3 boasts an aluminum and carbon fiber frame that weighs only 55 pounds, despite being almost seven-and-a-half feet tall.

When You Search Google, Only 13% of the Screen Has Real Results

Aaron Harris, the cofounder of Tutorspree, explained in a blog post that he looked at "the amount of real estate given to true organic results," by searching "auto mechanic" on Google, from his office in New York City.

Last month Siemens and EADS demonstrated a new gas-electric vehicle capable of carrying two people and their luggage 900 kilometers — roughly the distance from New York to Detroit — between refuels and recharges. The prototype was not a car, but a small two-seater airplane. The hybrid plane is similar to the Chevrolet Volt in that it relies on an electric motor and uses a gas engine as backup.

PC Makers Will Get Their Hands on Windows 8.1 in August

Microsoft will send the finished version of Windows 8.1 to PC manufacturers before fall, the company announced Monday. Tami Reller, Microsoft's chief marketing officer for Windows, announced at the company's Worldwide Partner Conference that Windows 8.1 RTM (release to manufacturing) is at the end of August.
