#FunFriday: You Might Be an American/Canadian if…

FeedBlitz Fun FridayWe thought we'd have a little fun today in the spirit of the summer holidays. With Canada Day and Independence Day falling in the same week, we’re sharing some humorous (and perhaps true?) ways to tell if you're American or Canadian.

We did extensive research to compile this list (OK, maybe we just asked a few friends), and we want to know which items ring true for you.

This is, of course, all in the spirit of friendship, and these 'ifs' could literally be endless so we had to pick our favorites.

Whether you're back in the office today or just taking  a reprieve from the festivities, we hope you enjoy what we put together and wish you a happy weekend.

You Might Be an American If …

  • You can tell a Canadian because they always say 'eh', but find it barely noticeable when Americans (you included?) start each sentence with 'like' and end it with a 'whatever.'
  • You have watched multiple times – and can quote most of - The Godfather. You can also find random times to insert the phrase, 'Here's looking at you, kid' but may or may not know which movie it's from.
  • Either you or someone you know actually believe the moon landing was a hoax.
  • You either love or at least respect the fact that the hot dog is the national food of the United States. Also, considering 155 million hot dogs are consumed on July 4th, you *may* have had one yesterday.

You Might Be a Canadian If …

  • You measure temperature in Celsius and distance in kilometers. And if you try to talk to an American using either of these terms, you may meet a questioning look.
  • You either a) love Poutine in a variety of forms, or b) you at least know what it is, and why it has been deemed Canada's national food of choice. Ed’s Note: What? No mention of Beaver Tails?
  • You like to remind your American friends the ONLY reason Nickelback, Justin Bieber, and Celine Dion are *so famous*, is because Americans love them so much!
  • You know that Canada has TWO national sports, hockey and… (if you're questioning your identity because you can't think of the other sport, see the bottom of this post – Hint: It’s not dogsledding.)

What Do YOU Think? Yeah or Eh?

What would you add to the US/Canadian list? Leave a comment to represent your country with the most obscure – or nationalistic – reference you can think of, or tell us what should have been on our list.

P.S. Canada's other national sport is: Lacrosse … but then, you're Canadian – you knew that. ;-)
