FeedBlitz #FunFriday: It's a Bird! It's a plane! It's a … Sharknado?

FeedBlitz Fun FridayHappy Friday! We're back and you know what that means … It's time to take a break from your "to-do" list, and enjoy what we've compiled for you in this week's #FunFriday post!

Over the past couple weeks, we've been hearing some really fishy rumors. Like, TMZ-worthy fishy. Turns out, one of the rumors is true: Sharks and tornados do exist within the same movie (who thinks of this stuff?).

While another rumor is untrue: Unfortunately, ladies and gentlemen, it turns out that the megalodon may not be a real shark after all (#megalodon).

It's Shark Week!

In case you missed it, this week is the Discovery Channel's 26th annual "Shark Week," and the online world has been swimming (pun intended) with sharks because of it. Throughout this week, we've seen random shark stories, shark-themed clothing and even David Hasslehoff getting in on the action.

And, although we know most of you are social media savvy, it's not out of the question that you may have been too busy to explore this shark-nomenon (see what we did there?), and we're here to remedy that.

Meet: Sharknado

Move over Jaws, Sharknado has taken things to a whole new level of scary. Sure, sharks are terrifying when in the open water. What's even more scary? Sharks being hurled at you from the sky ready for their next meal. It's an outrageous idea. Outrageous enough to develop a cult-like following.

Basically, this highly ridiculous and surprisingly popular made-for-TV movie premiered on the Syfy Channel in July, and was so popular they re-aired the movie multiple times, with viewership increasing with each additional showing. Regal Cinemas even decided to show the movie in 200 of their theatres — each selling out. THAT is how crazy some people are about sharks. And by "some" we mean over 2.1 million people.

How to Celebrate Shark Week

If you haven't had a chance to celebrate yet, don't be sad. There's still plenty of time to get your "shark" on. Here are a few ways you can take part in the action this week …

Take A Subaquatic Road Trip

For this year's Shark Week, The Discover Channel and Volkswagen joined up to create an online experience where you can go for a Subaquatic Road Trip in the seat of a Volkswagen Beetle. This virtual trip features a 360-degree view of a Shark Superhighway, shark facts, and is kid-friendly.

Watch Sharks Swim by Your Screen LIVE

We have to be honest, this "Shark Cam" seemed like a let down … that is, until a shark swam right past the screen. Give it a minute or two and let us know what you think. Warning: Watching this live cam may cause the Jaws theme song to hauntingly play in your head.

Rock Some Killer Shark Gear

Whether you're up for just lounging around or a night on the town, you could sport some sweet shark apparel like custom TOMS or shark-inspired pumps.

FeedBlitz FunFriday But seriously, if you buy or wear either of these, we want to see a photo … on our Facebook page.

Well, that's it for us, we're off to watch Sharknado 2: The Second One. Just kidding. OK maybe not …

Do you have a topic idea for #FunFriday? We'd love to hear it! Just leave your suggestion in the comments below.
