FeedBlitz #FunFriday: A Yeti What…? Five Animals You Didn't Know Existed

Fun Friday

Happy Friday everyone! This week has been full of sunshine, yet quite chilly.

Sadly, it's officially fall. Depending on where you live, the leaves may be turning and the wind is getting brisker.

Autumn is one of my favorite seasons, so I can't complain. This edition of #FunFriday, we're not going to talk about fall but rather, take your mind off it (…fall, and the looming festive season) with  some pretty unique animals you may never have heard about before.

FeedBlitz #FunFriday: Five Animals You Didn't Know Existed

When you visit the zoo, or turn on National Geographic, you can see some pretty unique creatures. If you’ve actually seen any of them before in real life, let us know!! We are very curious to learn more …

The Raccoon Dog

This guy looks like he blow-dries each and every day. He looks more like a cross between a raccoon and a panda in our opinion. Even though he may look like a raccoon, they actually aren't closely related. The Raccoon Dog originates from East Asia and is apparently a very good climber.

The Yeti Crab

No, this isn't a mythical creature. Although, it is named after one. This deep-sea crab lives it up in sub-thermal temperatures at the bottom of the sea. We're not sure whether to laugh or be very, very, afraid.

The Pink Fairy Armadillo

This little guy is endangered and spotting one is a very rare occurrence. So, the chances of ever crossing paths with this guy are slim to none. Not your typical fairy, these tiny members of the armadillo family are super fast burrowers and live underground.

The Gerenuk

These lengthy creatures are a long-neck species of antelope and can be found primarily in East Africa. They aren't endangered but are close. Gerenuk means "giraffe-necked". Very fitting, wouldn’t you say?

Southern Right Whale Dolphin

These dolphins are beautiful. The Southern Right Whale Dolphin is one of two species of right whale dolphins and each are known for their slender bodies, graceful movements and lack of a dorsal fin (the fin at the mid-back of the body usually seen on dolphins.)

Try and top that, National Geographic. We hope you enjoyed this Friday reprieve and wish you a happy weekend! Until next time …

P.S. What other odd / unique animals should we be aware of? Leave a comment below …
