Here at FeedBlitz, whether we’re powering a publisher’s RSS feed or delivering their emails to their blog’s audience, our goal is to increase the potential engagement for each reader. With increased engagement comes more opportunity for you to build authority, gain trust and earn the respect of your subscriber.
There are several ways that we do that, such as:
- Inline comments in your RSS feed, which moves the conversation into RSS readers (a unique capability).
- Automatically generated related posts in your RSS feeds.
- Smart post truncation (another unique capability), preserving links, images and formatting.
- For email publishers, including a recap of recent posts in each mailing (also unique).
- Comprehensive social sharing options.
Each generates an opportunity for one update to spark interest in the reader with more of your content and your community. This is a Good Thing, of course.
The recent post recaps, though, could sometimes make email updates ugly, depending on how the template formatting the message was designed. That’s frustrating. Nobody wants an ugly email sent to their readership, right?
So we’ve just changed how the recaps are built. For those mailings where the recaps were visually jarring — well, problem solved. Recaps are now formatted as if they were a real post from your blog, using the design of your template. It’s more appealing visually (they flow nicely with the rest of your content), and that increases the likelihood of a reader checking them out and clicking through. The title of the recap now links back to your site’s home page as well, again providing yet another route to extended engagement.
A massive, earth-shattering change? Probably not. A small tune-up that might well make a big difference to how your subscribers engage with your updates and your site? You bet!
