Governor McCrory Announces Appointee to State Board of Education

Raleigh, NC- Governor Pat McCrory has appointed Eric Davis of Mecklenburg County to the State Board of Education.

"Eric Davis has a strong background in education oversight, having previously served as chair of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education and on the CMS Superintendent's Standards Review Committee," said Governor McCrory. "We look forward to his work on the Board and the valuable insights he has gleaned from one of the state's largest school systems."

Governor McCrory Appoints Superior Court Judge for Cleveland and Lincoln Counties

Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory has appointed attorney Todd Pomeroy as Superior Court judge for Cleveland and Lincoln counties. Pomeroy will fill the vacancy of Superior Court Judge James W. Morgan in District 27B who will retire on December 31, 2014.

"Todd Pomeroy has been practicing criminal law in the district in which he will preside for nearly 18 years," Governor McCrory said. "His common sense, legal expertise and real-world experiences will enhance North Carolina's judiciary."

North Carolina surpasses Michigan to become the nation’s ninth-most populous state

Raleigh, N.C. - North Carolina grew by 95,047 people during a 12-month period ending in 2014 and surpassed Michigan to become the ninth-most populous state in the nation, according to estimates released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. 

 

"People want to live in a place where they can fulfill their potential," Governor McCrory said, "And for an increasing number of Americans and people throughout the world, that place is North Carolina."

Governor McCrory Selects Next Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary

Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory announced today that he has selected Donald van der Vaart as the next secretary for the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Van der Vaart currently serves as deputy secretary and energy policy advisor for the agency. Van der Vaart replaces John E. Skvarla, whom Governor McCrory has named to lead the N.C. Department of Commerce when Secretary Sharon Decker leaves at the end of December.
