NCDOT Announces Sponsorship Agreement for Incident Management Assistance Patrol

Posted: 11 May 2015 04:55 AM PDT

RALEIGH, NC – The N.C. Department of Transportation today announced it has a new sponsorship agreement for its Incident Management Assistance Patrol program (IMAP), a service that offers free roadway assistance to motorists in need. The agreement is with State Farm® and will rename the program the NCDOT State Farm Safety Patrol. "A primary goal of the Department is to make traveling in North Carolina as safe and efficient as possible," said Secretary Tony Tata. "This innovative way of funding a vital program like the State Farm Safety Patrol furthers that effort without requiring additional tax dollars." State Farm has agreed to sponsor the Safety Patrol for at least four years. It also sponsors Safety Patrols in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Illinois, Ohio, Nevada, Louisiana and Kansas. "The State Farm Safety Patrol program underscores our commitment to auto safety and embodies our 'good neighbor' philosophy," said State Farm Marketing Director Ed Gold. "We are proud to sponsor this important program. It helps people recover from the unexpected, which is the heart of the State Farm mission." As part of the sponsorship program, all IMAP vehicles will receive an updated look including the State Farm logo and enhanced, highly reflective safety markings to make the vehicles more visible to motorists, especially at night. As the exclusive sponsor, the State Farm logo will also be added to the patrol drivers' uniforms, as well as on roadway signage that provides motorists with program information and informs them of the covered routes. The NCDOT State Farm Safety Patrol covers fixed highway routes during peak travel hours to provide traffic control and safety at incident scenes. The program also assists motorists with towing, jump-starts, flat tire repair and more on all or portions of heavily traveled highways in Raleigh, Greensboro/Winston-Salem, Wilmington, Charlotte and Asheville areas. In 2014, IMAP assisted more than 100,000 motorists. Now, with State Farm sponsorship, motorists can learn more about the program at www.AssistPatrol.com and NCDOT's IMAP page. Motorists who are assisted by the patrol can share their stories on social media using the hashtag #AssistPatrol.
