Pentagon Wants Smartphone Biometric Scanning Tool

The Pentagon wants soldiers to be able to scan people's faces, eyes and thumbs with their smartphones. That's why the Department of Defense has inked a $3 million deal with California-based tech company AOptix, to develop its "Smart Mobile Identity System," as first reported by Wired's Military blog Danger Room.

The passcode lock on the iPhone 5 isn't perfect, it seems. A video posted on YouTube Jan. 31 by user "videosdebarraquito" shows how to bypass the lock on an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1. The method was confirmed by the tech blog The Verge, which posted its own video showing the trick.

In 2006, several members of the Cambridge faculty and other UK computer scientists joined together to form the charitable Raspberry Pi Foundation with one simple goal: get more computers into the hands of more children. Report: HP's Next Smartphones and Tablets Will Be Android-Based

HP plans to switch to Android for its upcoming smartphones and tablets, ReadWrite Mobile reports citing sources familiar with the matter. According to the report, HP will launch a high-end tablet powered by Nvidia's Tegra 4 chip "soon," which might make the device one of the first Tegra 4-powered tablets on the market.
