DIY iPhone Microscope Costs $8 to Make

Internal medicine and infectious disease specialist Isaac Bogoch and his colleagues turned an iPhone 4S into a fairly accurate microscope by attaching an eight dollar, three-millimeter ball lens to the smartphone's camera lens using double sided tape. The DIY microscope was tested with 200 slides of stool samples from school children with different types of parasitic worms in Pemba Island, Tanzania.

Google Chrome Now Has 750 Million Active Users

Google Chrome is well on its way to having a billion active users. Google announced at its I/O developers conference on Wednesday that the browser now has 750 million active users, an increase of about 300 million users from the same time last year. Chrome first launched in beta in 2008. Chrome passed Internet Explorer last year to become the most popular browser in the world.

Google Announces Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S4

At Google I/O in San Francisco on Wednesday, Hugo Barra, Android's VP product management announced an unlocked "Google Edition" of the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone. "What you're seeing here is real," Barra said. He showed the user interface of the smartphone (pictured below), which he says is the same as the interface Google sells on its Nexus devices.
