If you've ever wondered why you can unlock your car by pressing a button, but still have to fumble for your metal keys to get in your house, then the August Smart Lock might be for you. The $199 device, which will go on sale later this year, lets you secure your door over the Internet. Using August you can bar unwanted visitors and give access to friends and relatives — even for a short period.

Tumblr Brings Sponsored Posts to Your Desktop Feed

One month after introducing sponsored posts to users' mobile news feeds (a.k.a. dashboards), Tumblr announced that it's bringing the ad unit to desktop news feeds, as well. The ad units look like a regular old post, distinguished only by a dollar sign icon in the upper righthand corner. Users can favorite and reblog those posts at will, which Tumblr claims users have already done more than 10 million times on mobile sponsored posts.

Dropbox Back Up After Widespread Service Disruption

UPDATE: Dropbox has confirmed to Mashable that the site is back up and running after experiencing a widespread service disruption this morning. "We apologize for any inconvenience that might have been caused," a Dropbox rep said. "Dropbox is back to normal." If you had trouble accessing your files on Dropbox this morning, you're not alone.
