What a Difference a Month Makes

Regular readers will recall that, about a month ago, I headed to (then) sunnier climes for some much needed rest and relaxation — and that I had a certain trepidation about the endeavor. With the rest came great clarity (and the poolside rum probably didn’t hurt either), and I wrote about the decisions made that week and what I was hoping for as a result.

How, then, are things going? Well, I’m delighted to say that Heather and her team have now caught up with our support backlog. We’re now able to be much more proactive in terms of customer service, and are busy working on improving other areas of the site to better enable our customers to be more successful more quickly. That’s a win.

You might also have noticed – well, it’s been difficult to avoid if you’re a subscriber – that the number of blog posts here has increased significantly. Letting go of content creation and managing user stories (I think that’s what us older types used to call “case studies”) has been another change initiated since my time off; I hope you’re enjoying the insight and the broader scope of some of the posts. Expect more of this, too – and if you want to share your story and it’s relevant to the FeedBlitz News readership, please do write in and let me know. We welcome guest bloggers!

Under the hood, we’ve been able to improve core capabilities that will allow FeedBlitz to scale quickly as and when we need to. For example, updating our multiple servers was a manual process that used to take hours; now it’s fully automated and takes just a few seconds. Changes like this are going to make a massive difference going forward.

As I look back on the last few weeks, the exciting thing is not that we’ve added more people and better processes here at FeedBlitz. It’s that they’re the right people and processes for what comes next. The key to this business’ future success is not only devolving the work, but also sharing both responsibility and accountability as well. The last few weeks have not been without their hiccups, bumps amd learning experiences for us all. But I can honestly say I’m thrilled to see how well the extended FeedBlitz team has risen to the occasion. Thank you!

So what you’ll see soon – very soon, in fact - is an increased sense of pace and change here at FeedBlitz.  So stay tuned. You’ll see the first results of what we’ve been up to starting next week!
