L.A. News Anchors Duck for Cover as Earthquake Hits When a 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck Los Angeles on Monday morning, it was timed perfectly for the morning shows. Striking at 6:26 a.m. local time with an epicenter just a few miles northwest of Westwood, Calif., the quake caused mild to moderate shaking in parts of the city.
