In September 2000, leaders from around the world convened at the United Nations headquarters in New York City to adopt the Millennium Declaration, through which they committed their countries to a partnership in solving key global issues by the end of 2015. The leaders agreed on eight goals — known as the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) — that range from ending extreme poverty and hunger to reducing child mortality.

You're never too old for Twitter. Britain's oldest gardener, 104-year-old Ralph Hoare, is using his green thumbs for more than pruning by answering horticultural questions on the social network. Furniture Village, a UK retailer, identified Hoare as the country's oldest active gardener to coincide with the launch of a new collection of garden equipment. His gardening answers will be posted on the company's Twitter account, @OfficialFV.

Mark Zuckerberg Moonlights as a Middle School Teacher

In case this Facebook thing doesn't work out, Mark Zuckerberg can always fall back on his second job: middle school teacher. The Facebook CEO disclosed to Wired that he teaches a class every week to a middle school in East Menlo Park, Calif. Zuckerberg says he was influenced by his wife, Priscilla, who went into teaching after graduating from Harvard.

We came in to Thursday's press event in Menlo Park expecting a "Facebook phone," and in the HTC First we got one. Kinda. But there was a reason Mark Zuckerberg devoted little more than five minutes at the end of the event to the First. He wants us to focus on Facebook Home. The $99 First is little more than a low-cost LTE Android phone with Home pre-installed.
